A technical explanation would be that glass fusing is the process by which different forms and colors of glass are bonded through heat in a kiln. That makes it sound really boring and it is anything but that!
Many people are already familiar with stained glass and glass blowing.
Stained glass is, of course, an art form used over many years and has produced some of the most wonderful windows in churches and other buildings around the world. It is also used to great effect in decorative art pieces as well as other functional items such as lampshades.
Glass blowing is another very old art form and is still used to produce both decorative and functional items such as vases, bowls and drinking glasses.
Fused glass may take many forms. Sometimes it is totally flat, although it may have holes deliberately designed to be in the piece. At other times, it is designed so that it has texture and, sometimes it is shaped over or into a mould to create a variety of different results. It is also possible to combine fused glass using other materials such as metal and, even, embroidery thread as in this example below.
